In our effort to explore and understand the embodied methods of teaching and learning in the academic classroom, we heard the echoes of The Real World™—the world that haunts academic spaces and shapes academic promises. The world teachers prepare students for and train them to aspire to. But what exactly is this Real World™? What kinds of bodies does it demand? What postures, rhythms, and performances does it expect? And how does academic training already align us with its requirements, and what, in return, does it promise?

In this workshop, we invite students, lecturers and researchers to critically engage with these questions together through a series of embodied, sensory, and movement-based inquiries. Our aim is to make explicit the often – invisible bodily labor of education—how we attune (or misalign), adapt, and internalize expectations—and to consider how these embodied competencies are shaping our understanding and preparing us for becoming professionals in the Real World™.

No prior experience is required, just a curiosity and willingness to experiment.
